Role

As a Junior Insights Data Scientist – Transaction Monitoring, you will deliver data-driven insights and build automated pipelines and workflows based on transaction data from over 8 million customers. Your work enables colleagues to make better-informed decisions in identifying and preventing financial crime. You will generate insights into the current Transaction Monitoring (TM) system and support its continuous optimisation, visualising and communicating findings so operational analysts can focus on true positive alerts.

  • Work model: Hybrid (office attendance on Mondays and Thursdays)

Team

You will join a team of 8 professionals, including a Product Owner, Scrum Master, and a mix of Data Scientists and Data Analysts.

Top responsibilities

  • Develop and improve data pipelines for tuning, lookbacks, and impact analyses, combining complex TM model components efficiently.
  • Perform end-to-end analyses from intake and coding to visualisation and presenting insights to stakeholders.
  • Design and build production-ready dashboards (front-end and back-end) to support rule tuning, rule development, and daily TM detection insight.

Practical examples of work

  • Estimate the impact of proposed parameter changes in the TM model on overall effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Optimise workflows to enable tuning across a broader range of parameter combinations.
  • Build dashboards in collaboration with platform squads and bring them into production, such as a TM rule performance dashboard, a system-wide TM overview, and a transaction dashboard to support new TM rule development.

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in a technical field
  • 2+ years of experience performing data analysis in Python
  • Experience with PySpark, Databricks, Power BI, and building end-to-end solutions using repositories, version control, pipelines, and testing frameworks
  • Able to identify the real question behind a request and present results in a convincing and structured way
  • Precise, proactive, communicative, business-oriented, with a strong can-do mentality
  • Thrive in a high-impact, fast-paced, and complex environment
  • Motivated to fight financial crime by improving the effectiveness of transaction monitoring and delivering measurable impact
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
