Senior Business Continuity Specialist — Rabobank Utrecht
Role overview
As a Senior Business Continuity Specialist you will ensure that critical IT domains have robust, practical Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and meaningful BCM exercises. You will deliver high-quality, time-sensitive BCM outputs in a complex IT environment, focusing on continuity, recovery and response during disruption.
Key responsibilities
- Create and maintain BCPs: Develop new, high-quality Business Continuity Plans for highly complex IT domains.
- Design continuity solutions: Define recovery strategies, workarounds, response priorities, dependencies, roles and responsibilities.
- Strategic analysis: Prepare strategic choices for recovery strategies, outline short- and long-term implementation actions.
- Operational collaboration: Work with operational teams to gather input, validate assumptions and understand practical constraints.
- BCM exercises: Prepare and facilitate risk-based exercises that test beyond basic walkthroughs.
- Assessments and maturity: Update Business Impact Analyses and risk assessments and increase their maturity.
- Knowledge sharing & reporting: Share approach and standards, document exercise outcomes and lessons learned, and support management reporting on BCM lifecycle progress.
Who you are (required)
- Experience: Minimum 7 years in Business Continuity Management with hands-on experience creating BCPs and defining continuity strategies for complex environments and multiple scenarios (including third-party loss).
- Exercises: Proven experience preparing and facilitating BCM exercises beyond basic procedures.
- Regulation & standards: Able to interpret requirements/regulation and translate into practical implementation, or have in-depth experience with DORA.
- IT environment: Experience working in an IT environment.
- Delivery & independence: Able to work independently, prioritise effectively and deliver high-quality outputs within short timelines.
- Coaching & communication: Able to coach others practically, explain BCM approach clearly and produce clear, high-quality documentation.
- Language: Professional fluency in English (mandatory).
Preferred experience
- Experience in vital/regulated sectors (financial services, oil & gas, telecom) with strict availability requirements.
- Familiarity with Archer or comparable BCM/risk/control tooling.
- BCM-related certification (e.g. MBCI/FBCI, ISO 22301 Lead Implementer) or equivalent.
Assignment details & practical requirements
- Number of positions: 2 FTE
- Duration: 12–15 months (no current outlook on extension)
- Employment type: Self-employed contractors (ZZP) not allowed
- Availability: Candidate must be available for the entire duration of the assignment
- Identification: Candidate must possess a valid passport or ID card
- Pre-employment screening: Start is contingent on successful completion of required pre-employment screening
Eisen
- Language: English mandatory
- Assignment duration: 12-15 months
- You have at least 7 years of experience in Business Continuity Management
- You have hands-on and proven experience creating Business Continuity Plans
and defining continuity strategies for complex environments and a variety
of scenarios, including at least losses of third parties - You have experience preparing and facilitating a range of BCM exercises
that test more than basic procedures - You can easily interpret requirements and regulation and translate them
into practical implementation or you have in-depth experience with DORA - You have experience in an IT environment
- You are professionally fluent in English and able to create clear,
high-quality documentation - Due to the congestion at the parking lot Rabobank location Croeselaan in
Utrecht, external staff will no longer be able to park at the Croeselaan
from Monday through Thursday - Midlance constructions are not allowed according to Rabobank policy
- Suppliers must be aware of the laws and regulations regarding employment
conditions and Rabobank’s Collective Labour Agreement - This assignment is placed in scale 10
- Candidate should be submitted exclusively to Magnit – Rabobank during the
exclusivity period of 4 business days on one request - Furthermore, the candidate has to be available throughout the entire
duration of the assignment - All submitted candidates must be in possession of a valid Passport or ID
card, which must be taken along to the interview and at the start of the

Gunningscriteria
- Het volgende ervaring is preferred, maar niet alle elementen zijn vereist
- Ervaring in vitale sectoren, zoals financiële dienstverlening, olie en gas,
telecom of vergelijkbare gereguleerde omgevingen met strikte
beschikbaarheidseisen - Ervaring met Archer of vergelijkbare BCM-, risicobeheer- of controletools
- BCM-gerelateerde certificering, zoals MBCI/FBCI, ISO 22301 Lead
