Business Controller — IT & Data & Analytics
Role overview
Employment type: Freelance preferred
We are seeking a data-savvy and experienced Business Controller with a strong focus on Controlling for IT and Data & Analytics. You will quickly grasp ongoing activities during handover, connect the dots across complex topics, and confidently interact with stakeholders at all levels.
Key responsibilities
Business Controlling for IT Run and Change, Data & Analytics: Understand and explain actuals versus budget for IT and analytics spend; analyse root causes of underrun and overrun; support consolidation and forecasting specific to these areas.
Cost deep dives & spend monitoring: Prepare detailed cost deep dive documentation; create overviews and dashboards for spend versus budget; translate insights into actionable recommendations.
FTE monitoring: Track and analyse FTE allocations and trends to ensure workforce-related spend aligns with budget and objectives.
Financial products: Apply affinity with and basic understanding of banking products (including business loans and mortgages) and their impact on financial statements.
Finance controlling: Manage accruals, adjustments, cost allocation and other core finance controlling activities.
Capex and Opex: Classify and track expenditures accurately with strong knowledge of Capex and Opex definitions.
Transformation support: Support transformation initiatives, process improvements and change management within controlling functions.
Stakeholder engagement: Engage effectively with IT, analytics, finance and business teams to gather inputs, clarify requirements and communicate findings.
Complex organisational navigation: Operate proactively and solution-oriented in ambiguous, evolving processes and with incomplete documentation; bring clarity and structure to complex situations.
Develop and maintain dashboards, perform spend analysis and support forecasting in a complex, matrixed environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
5+ years of experience in business controlling and/or finance controlling roles in the banking industry.
Strong analytical skills and high proficiency with data (Excel, BI tools, ERP systems).
Proven ability to understand and explain financial variances, root causes and business impacts.
Solid understanding of consolidation and forecasting processes.
Experience with accruals, adjustments and cost allocation.
Proven ability to work effectively in complex, matrixed organisations with incomplete processes or documentation.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable engaging with all levels of the organisation.
Proactive, resourceful and solution-oriented mindset.
Preferred qualifications
Experience with Exact and Tagetik.
Track record of process improvement and transformation in controlling functions.

- The candidate has to be available throughout the entire duration of the assignment
- All submitted candidates must be in possession of a valid Passport or ID card, which must be taken along to the interview and at the start of the assignment
- The submitted documents i.e. resume and motivation letter must be submitted in English
- Candidate should be submitted exclusively to Magnit – Triodos, MAX of TWO candidates per Supplier
