As Senior Business Continuity Specialist you will develop high-quality Business Continuity Plans and risk-based exercises for complex IT domains, delivering practical recovery strategies and supporting documentation within short timelines.

Key responsibilities

  • Create new, high-quality Business Continuity Plans for highly complex IT domains.
  • Develop practical continuity solutions, including recovery strategies, workarounds, response priorities, dependencies, and roles & responsibilities.
  • Prepare strategic choices for impactful recovery strategies with analysis and outline short- and long-term implementation actions.
  • Work with operational teams to gather input, validate assumptions and understand practical constraints.
  • Prepare and facilitate risk-based BCM exercises that go beyond basic walkthroughs or call tree tests.
  • Update Business Impact Analyses and risk assessments and increase their maturity.
  • Document exercise outcomes, lessons learned and improvement actions; support management reporting on BCM lifecycle progress.
  • Share knowledge with the team and stakeholders to enable reuse of approach, choices and quality standards after the assignment.

  • Delivery: Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and deliver high-quality work within short timelines.
  • Coaching & communication: Able to coach others practically, explain your BCM approach clearly and raise maturity while delivering concrete outputs.
  • Language: Professionally fluent in English and able to produce clear, high-quality documentation.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in vital sectors (financial services, oil & gas, telecom or similarly regulated environments).
  • Experience with Archer or comparable BCM, risk or control tooling.
  • BCM-related certification (e.g. MBCI/FBCI, ISO 22301 Lead Implementer, or equivalent).

  • Contract type: Temporary contract / interim professional arrangement
  • Location: Utrecht
  • Hybrid working: 2 days per week in the office
  • Working hours: Full-time
